Dropout Regional Summit Mini Grant Opportunity

Through the collaborative efforts of PennSERVE: The Governor’s Office of Citizen Service, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, and the Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network (PSAYDN), an America’s Promise Alliance: Pennsylvania’s Dropout Prevention Summit was held in Harrisburg, on November 13, 2008.  This invitation–only summit gathered opinion leaders from a wide cross-section of stakeholders, to consider and make recommendations on statewide strategies to address Pennsylvania’s dropout crisis.

The summit allowed leaders from across the state to engage in focused discussion of Pennsylvania’s dropout problem as well as strategies to address it on both a regional and state level.  The summit highlighted the important work that remains to be done to prevent students from leaving school and to re-engage those who do leave.

To continue this important work on the local level, Mini Grants will be provided to local groups to conduct local Dropout Prevention and re-engagement Summits being made possible through a grant from State Farm® to the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit.
