Join PSAYDN and the National Youth Leadership Center (NYLC) for an interactive workshop on service -learning. The two-day training for educators (afterschool, summer learning, 21st Century Community Learning Center staff, school administration, early learning, K-12 educators, volunteers, etc.) will:

The training will also provide an opportunity to highlight projects via social media conducted through nationally-recognized events such as Lights On Afterschool and National Summer Learning Day.


Trainer Information

Trainer Julie Rogers Bascom is a service-learning leader from Minneapolis, Minn. and has been supporting youth workers, teachers and young people to use service-learning as a strategy to solve problems in their communities for over 15 years. Her passion for supporting young people to become problem solvers formed when her own children attended an Oakland, Calif. school where every student, every year was engaged in service-learning. She also coaches and leads workshops for Minnesota Civic Youth, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that prepares young people for a life of active citizenship. In addition, Rogers Bascom has presented at local and national workshops on how to incorporate service into curriculum and community.

CEC: Act 48

The Center for Schools and Communities, as a division of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, offers Act 48 professional development credit for those with Pennsylvania teaching or administrative certificates. Participants MUST attend session(s) from beginning to end and list their professional personnel ID (PPID) number on the appropriate Act 48 paperwork supplied by the Center for Schools and Communities to receive credit. If you are interested in receiving Act 48 credit, check the appropriate box on the registration form. Retrieve your PPID number from PERMS and bring it with you to the conference.
