The White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellowship develops emerging policy leaders in the field of afterschool and expanded learning. Never have advocates been needed more as we help students excel academically, develop life skills and prepare for their future college and career experiences.

The Fellowship fall intensive will take place at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, from Sunday Sept. 11 – Friday, Sept.16. Following, the fellows will meet monthly for webinars and then gather in the spring of 2023 at the 50 State National Network conference in Washington, D.C.


Three weeks in June 2022 | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Virtual

Level Up! is a new program that investigates the complexities, nuances and realities of the nonprofit leadership relationship between board and staff in an intimate experiential space. Organizations will participate in board and staff member pairs. Each pair will bring to the program one challenge the organization is currently facing.

Through a framework centered on power dynamics, accountability, facing resistance and fostering trust, organizations will examine their current practices and how they work to both resolve and perpetuate their challenge. Organizations will identify actionable steps from their learnings to bring back to their organization. The goal of the program is to provide tools and a learning space to rethink an old challenge through a fresh perspective.

Application deadline: Tuesday, May 31, 2022
Eligibility: Female students entering grades 6-8.

Students will receive direct instruction, video conference with advisors and exciting females in STEM careers, perform experiments, and engage in conversations related to STEAM as well as the Career Education and Work Standards.


Date: Monday, June 13 – Friday, July 22, 2022
Location: Clarion, Pennsylvania

Location: Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania
Eligibility: Students entering grades 10-12

Working in a simulated entrepreneurial setting, you and your teammates will develop an idea to solve a problem, investigate the feasibility as a business, identify competitors, develop a website and prototype, and compete for a cash prize. During this exciting and challenging week, you will acquire leadership and team-building skills, develop new friendships, and learn valuable lessons from the experts.


Date: Sunday, June 19 – Saturday, June 25, 2022
Location: Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania
Eligibility: Students entering grades 10-12

Jumpstart your college experience by spending the week with high school leaders from across the country. Through use of the Social Change Model, you will participate in both indoor and outdoor leadership, service and social activities to discover your strengths, leadership style, ability to manage conflict and more to propel you into college-level leadership. You will gain hands-on experience by participating in a small group case study to demonstrate your individual and collective leadership skills.
