Sunrise is excited to share unique workshops designed to explore key concepts that have emerged from N.E.A.R. science, a set of lessons learned from a combined understanding of neurobiology, epigenetics, ACEs, and resilience.

Each two-hour module can be conducted virtually by videoconference or in-person in Philadelphia, and can accommodate up to 25 participants.

Sunrise’s training is open to any interested OST provider or educator. These workshops may be funded by 21st Century Learning Centers funding and focus on:

  • Defining key concepts of trauma and resilience
  • Concrete strategies to integrate into professional practice and program design
  • Content designed specifically for the context of OST

Every 3rd Thursday of the month, 6–7 p.m. ET | Varying locations, depending on topic

What do you want to be when you grow up? In this club, we will explore many different careers through hands-on activities, visits from professionals and field trips to workplaces.

Remake Learning Days Across America is an innovative learning festival for families and youth! Taking root in regions across the nation, these hands-on and engaging events are designed for kids of all ages at libraries, schools, tech centers, museums, play spaces, community centers and more.

Prizes winning artwork:

  • Artwork will be printed on more than 50,000 posters and displayed at more than 8,000 Lights On Afterschool events around the world.
  • Winning artist will be featured on the Afterschool Alliance’s website and blog as well as in a national press release
  • Their afterschool program will be credited on the poster as well as receive the grand prize of $500

Thanks to the time and help of afterschool and summer program staff, the Afterschool Alliance has been able to track the ways in which the afterschool field’s operating status, policies, procedures, staffing and services have been affected by the pandemic. Each wave has confirmed the integral role that afterschool and summer programs have played over the past two years, and a new dashboard documents the ways in which programs have managed to continuously adapt to the changing and challenging circumstances created by COVID-19.


Rivers of Steel Metalworking Opportunities (Woodland Hills School District) Workshops

March 30, April 13 and 27, May 11 and 25, 2022, 3–7 p.m. (dinner provided) | Rankin, Pennsylvania

Rivers of Steel and the Rankin Christian Center are hosting afterschool workshops in metal arts followed with paid summer internships for two participants. Students ages 16 and older are encouraged to sign up and gain professional skills in the industrial arts through creative hands-on learning. Workshops will introduce skills in welding, blacksmithing and foundry work through the creation of individual artworks.

Internship | June 20 – Aug. 1, 2022 | Rankin, Pennsylvania

Summer interns will work daily in Rivers of Steel’s metal arts program, creating their own artworks, learning valuable skills from professionals, and gaining technical experience assisting in a public workshop setting.
